PADI Youth Diving Programs

Discover Scuba - (Minimum age 10)
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program introduces people to scuba diving in a highly supervised
and relaxed manner. It dispels common misconceptions about scuba by letting individuals try it for themselves. Under the guidance of a PADI professional, new divers learn basic safety concepts, put
on equipment and swim around underwater in a closely supervised environment.

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program can take place in a swimming pool, protected confined open water area and at an open water dive site — anywhere an appropriate, positive introduction to scuba diving is possible. After trying scuba, many new divers may decide to repeat the experience. If not immediately, then on other occasions or in different areas. Others will choose to pursue certification
by enrolling in a PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver course.

The desired result is to excite people about scuba diving and encourage additional participation. When certain requirements are met, new divers may earn credit toward PADI Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver certification.

Bubblemaker - (Minimum age 8)
The Bubblemaker program introduces scuba as an activity that allows children to experience the
underwater world. Under close supervision, participants swim around on scuba in shallow confined
water – just playing. Colorful Bubblemaker emblems, decals, towels and toys along with a distinctive recognition certificate and card make the experience one to remember.

Junior Open Water - (Minimum age 10)
Children as young as 10 can earn their diver certification and begin to explore the oceans to a depth of 40 feet. Divers 10 and 11 years old are required to dive with a parent or professional dive educator.
At age 12 the depth increases and the child can now dive with any certified adult. At age 15 the certification automatically becomes an adult certification.

Our course is structured using clearly defined incremental goals that build confidence and teach life skills. We teach the same skills and knowledge that any certified diver must master (Initial certification details) but we introduce them in a manner easily grasped by young divers. We increase the amount of supervision provided during the course to ensure a safe and fun environment. This approach has
led to unprecedented success in teaching the next generation of divers.

Scuba Review - (Minimum age 10)
The Scuba Review program consists of two parts — a Knowledge Review and a Confined Water Skills Review. There is also an optional open water dive.

The Knowledge Review segment covers the basic safety information divers learn during their
entry-level training. Minimum age: 10 years old

Divers use the Scuba Tune-up Multimedia or guidebook to independently test their knowledge
and/or under a PADI Member’s guidance complete the Open Water Diver course quizzes and exam.
The Confined Water Skills Review allows participants to practice basic scuba skills. With guidance
from a PADI Member, divers update and fine-tune their diving ability.

A supervised open water dive (see Discover Local Diving) is an optional addition to the program for certified divers. This dive offers an opportunity to obtain an environmental orientation to a local dive site from a PADI Member while gaining confidence and refreshing dive skills.
