Cocos Island - September 4 to 15, 2009
We consider this to be the ultimate dive adventure in the world. If you like big animal action there is no
place better, period!
In the past we have seen mantas, mobulas, hammerheads, silkys, white tips, silvertips, sailfish, schooling
tuna, dolphins, whale sharks and a sperm whale all on one trip! Even half of that would be a special trip.
On our last trip we had a whale shark come right up to the boat and play with us for ½ hour.
We are going in peak hammerhead season this time so we expect even more action.
The Undersea Hunter is unquestionably the finest liveaboard in operation today. The boat holds 18 guests
with a crew of 9 to take care of us. We limit the trip to 16 guests to allow for a little extra space in the dive boats. Each cabin has private facilities and is fully air-conditioned. The dive deck is spacious and the photo/video
facilities are second to none.
 
 
 
For those qualified, we recommend using rebreathers. Although rebreathers are not necessary they do allow
us to get much closer to the hammerheads. We can arrange for rentals if you do not own your own.
This trip is for experienced divers only. Although the diving is not exceedingly deep or difficult it is adventurous.
The island sits 200 miles from any other land mass. Conditions are unpredictable and constantly changing.
The remoteness of the island is what makes it so attractive to large animals.
There are several excellent land adventures to experience in Costa Rica . White water rafting, hiking in a
cloud forest, horseback riding, canopy tours and the Arenal Volcano area are just some of the things to do.
We have experienced all of these and will be happy to arrange any activity you like.
